Pain Related to Intramuscular Injections
Factors affecting intramuscular injection pain include:
- Psychological factors
- The amount of drug injected
- Physical and chemical properties of the injected drug (type of oil, amount of alcohol, active substance of the drug)
- Needle dimensions
- Condition of the muscle being injected, whether it is tense or relaxed
- Injection speed
- Size and location of the muscle
Measures to Avoid Pain During and After Intramuscular Injections
- Ensure the needle is dry, sterile, sharp, and of the correct length.
- To ensure the drug disperses, hold the needle inside for 10 seconds and withdraw it at the same angle.
- Sterilize the area with an alcohol swab before the injection and wait for the alcohol to dry.
- Apply pressure to the area after the injection.
Solutions for Post-Injection Pain
- After the injection, you can apply Lasonil cream, which you can get from a pharmacy, to the area. It provides significant relief.
During the injection, mix the drug to be injected with an Evigen ampoule in the syringe. Inject your drug together with Evigen. For example, if you are injecting 1ml of a drug, also draw 0.5-1 ml of Evigen into the same syringe and inject it into the injection site. Evigen is vitamin E and has no harm; you can find it in pharmacies
